@Shell - I agree you need to be careful about who you share your ideas with. To watch an idea unfold with someone you trust is exhilarating, however.

@Julie - I get the fountain thing. I can't shut off my ideas either. I like to think that's a good thing.

@Denise - Some ideas are great, some are good, and some are really bad. We never know unless we at least try, right? I always believe it's better to run with something than to keep it locked up and never let it out. Better to know one way or another.

I agree. I have a ton of ideas, but sometimes I feel like an idiot when I start something new and then it doesn't come to fruition. I have to remind myself that it wasn't because I didn't see it through, but rather because I determined it wasn't going to pan out for one reason or another.

Like JulieF, I swear ideas just pour out of me!

I find that I am just full of ideas. Once it gets going, its like there is a serious fountain of brainstorming juice streaming all over everyone around me.

Ok, so that doesn't sound pretty, but if you ever worked with me, you'd understand.

Talking about ideas. In the past I have come up against job advertisers seeking out my ideas prior to hiring. This is a difficult one. I have found it more so if I'm applying for marketing/writing jobs. On one occasion a company owner wanted me to provide a comprehensive list of marketing ideas (for two businesses) prior to hiring. Then nothing.

I rang the owner who never got back. A week later, I happened to stumble on a job lead and saw a near identical advertisement... same company(s) and job title but with more in-depth requirements. This time they were looking to hire an Intern for less pay to carry out what I had suggested.

Then would you believe it, a month later I received an email stating the owner had been away and wanted to hire me. Guess the Intern never worked out. Of course, I declined the offer!

It's great having ideas but you've got to guard the ones that help bring in your income.
