Thanks for weighing in folks.

@kathryn – Saturday shopping isn’t generally my thing but sometimes there’s no choice. Frankly, I try to avoid all stores on the weekend.

@Tracy – Check writers don’t bother me too much because it’s a form of payment. While there are times I wish I wasn’t behind someone paying by check, not everyone has credit cards or cash on hand. My grandma always paid by check – even in her 80’s and 90’s and I used to get annoyed by everyone sucking their teeth behind her and complaining that a 90 year old woman is writing a check- which is another reason I choose to vent on my blog rather than to the person’s face like someone else suggested.

@Scott, this blog is for all points of view and as long as you’re respectful to the community (and you are) you can disagree and stay off the bandwagon to your heart’s content. I can appreciate there are folks who are tight for money, certainly my own financial situation isn’t where I’d like. However, if I completed my transaction and there was a store full of people behind me, I would step aside and do what I have to do. I do try and show manners and be considerate to those around me. Welcome to FWJ, I do hope you’ll weigh in more often!

@zen – I’m not unhinged or off the deep end, but I am a blogger and bloggers speak about what is on their minds. I prefer to vent here than cause a scene. I don’t get ticked off easily and prefer not to react or speak out in anger. Call it a zen approach.

I don’t believe “honesty” is an excuse for rudeness and prefer not to begin arguments with total strangers in the supermarket for holding up a line. What would that solve? I guess maybe I’m a wimp that way. I kind of choose my battles.

I’m with you, Scott, and I still don’t get the “politically correct” part, but whatever – that phrase still annoys the hell out of me. My point is this – we’re all going thru stuff right now – if someone else’s stuff is enough to take you over the deep end, then *you* need to take a deep breath, and reorganize your priorities. Folks will piss you off every day, if you let them. If I can’t say something to someone’s face, on a supermarket line, then what I wanted to say, must not have been all that important, or I was too much of a wimp.

Wow everyone just jumped liked frogs at Deb’s rant. We all have pecularities and maybe that woman is really, really tight for money right now. Maybe no one has politely told her she is holding up the line.

I can certainly appreciate everyones frustration, but the answer to outward frustration is always within each of us.

Sorry for not being on the band wagon too.

Love it! I too have coupons and prices and hand when I leave home. I have also turned to the person behind me and told them “Hey, I’m using about 20 coupons, so you might get through faster in a line that I’m not it.”

It really is all about the differences between being courteous and feeling entitled.

HA HA – you forgot the part about the woman only deciding to write a check AFTER being told the total and watching as she pulls the checkbook out, sloowwwwly fills out the check and then proceeds to BALANCE her CHECKBOOK while the cashier and everyone in line WAITS.

Maybe supermarket-madness lady knows something that the President’s financial cabinet has yet to consider. I’m not talking coupons. I’m talking one big hissy fit to role us right out of this recession. Maybe.

I loved this post–too funny. Don’t even get me started on rude people in the grocery store. I’m all about saving money but not at the expense of being rude and holding up others in line. Lame!

Don’t hold back on us – say what you really feel .

I couldn’t imagine going GROCERY shopping on a weekend, particularly on a Saturday. This is the day you pick up a couple of items. It’s too crowded and crazy for real shopping. Maybe I’m over the top but I try to do my big shopping in the morning during the week when the crowds are smallest – and I always let the little loads go in front of me.

While I think the term “politically correct” has been used to death, and if I never hear it again, it’ll be too soon, and I don’t see how it has anything to do with your post, I can understand your frustration.
