Who Can Work When There’s So Much to Do?

What a week.  What a freakin’ week.

So, I got a little down in the dumps recently and decided that what I apparently needed to feel better was to completely upend my life.  For some reason, I just feel better when things are clean and organized, and very few things in my life have been clean and/or organized lately.

So, I started by creating a monstrosity of a to-do list.  Seriously, the sucker is something like five pages long and includes stuff like “wash the moldings in the kitchen” and “take down Halloween decorations.”  (Yes, I am aware that it is January.)

One thing that wasn’t on my list was to change offices.  My business partner decided that she just didn’t use our office enough to justify the expense, so we needed to let it go.  My husband and I talked about the fact that the office is pretty much the only place I EVER go outside of my home (excluding my once-monthly Bunco game) and decided that I should probably go ahead and absorb the cost and get myself a new place to roost a few times a week.

Yesterday was moving day.  Fortunately, the offices are just down the hall from one another, so the only real issue was how to get the oversized couch out of one room and into the other.  (Apparently the answer to the first half of that question was to gouge the door all up, while the answer to the second part was to take the new office door off its hinges.)  After moving the furniture into every possible configuration, I’ve come across one that I think looks pretty good, so that’s a relief.  Of course, now I have a whole new space that needs to be cleaned and organized.

So, in the past week I have cleaned and organized most of the upstairs of my house, spent hours cleaning and organizing my basement, cleaned the bathroom, rearranged bedroom furniture, cleaned the blinds, and generally worked my way through about 30% of my to-do list, in addition to moving into a whole new office.

Maybe tomorrow I’ll take down the Halloween decorations.  Or maybe I won’t.

*smile* I can definitely relate to that. Sometimes the practical stuff that the “real world” imposes on me feels totally overwhelming. Maybe because I tend to keep my cyberspace much more neatly organized than my physical surroundings. Sometimes I look up from the computer screen and wonder where did all that crap com from?
