Worst. Client. Ever.

We’ve all had those incredibly picky clients, right? I warned you before that I’d be whining about my guy in Arkansas who seems to think I should just be able to read his mind when I work on his projects. I tried to “fire” him one time, saying (very cleverly, I thought) that we seem to have different communication styles and that I really wanted his project to turn out well, so maybe a different writer might be in order. I will admit that this is after I had already cried, kicked, and screamed in my office two separate times over his projects.

No dice. Because I’m just such a nice person (or a “sucker,” if you prefer), I gave in to his wheedling and begging and did actually finish the project. Of course, he was thrilled with the final results and thought I was just the best thing since sliced bread.

I just had another conversation with Mr. Arkansas yesterday. You know your insecurities have made an impression when your client is saying things like, “I knew you could do it!” I felt a bit like a grade schooler who, after always being picked last for sports, just made her first ever soccer goal. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t worried that I could do it, I was more concerned that I might end up crawling down the phone line and throttling him before the project was concluded.

I recently came across an email online that makes me all of a sudden feel like Mr. Arkansas is a dream! Can you imagine working for this lady? (Seriously, follow that link. It’s the funniest thing you’ll read all day.)
