Blogging may keep your brain young!
So probloggers may not get employer paid health insurance but we may get other perks like boosted brain power!

According to a study released last year from the University of California, browsing the Internet stimulates neural activation patterns in your brain and may even potentially enhance brain function and cognition in older adults. The study consisted of folks undergoing MRI scans while performing web searches and said MRI scans showed an improved efficiency in cognitive processing plus the folks studied were able to encode information better.
The research showed cognitive improvements even if Internet searches were only performed for a short period of time so imagine how smart our ever-Googling blogger brains must be getting! According to the research, Internet searches appear to engage a complicated brain activity that helps improve brain function when it comes to reading, visual abilities, reasoning, decision-making, language, and more.
While this is cool news if you happen to be an experienced web surfer it’s really good news for elderly individuals facing negative cognitive issues issues. Of course as we age our brains experience reduced cell activity and atrophy, both of which can cause a negative cognitive impact. However, when researchers asked middle-aged and older adults with almost zip Internet experience to surf the web, these folks were able to trigger key centers in the brain that control decision-making and complex reasoning after just one week of surfing.
So the next time a bad blogging day gets you down, sooth yourself in the knowledge that at least you spent the day boosting your brain power a wee bit – it’s good to take even the small perks as they come along.

I’ll take every perk I can get – although I’m not sure how controlled that study was. Already, as a writer, every time you write you’re exercising those parts of the brain – and if you type instead of write by hand, it seems you’d get even more of a work out. I don’t know, maybe I’m stretching.
But this is an interesting study and explains why it’s so easy to get into flow (total unawareness of time passing) for hours while surfing the net and blogging without coming up for air.
Thanks for sharing these much needed perks.
Oh goodie… if I keep blogging I can continue to be a case of arrested development – like Kiesha I’ll take every edge I can get.
