Yes, thanks for all the leads, Jodee!
Thanks Jodee.
I just wanted to say, since you’ve been filling in for Deb I’ve LOVED how clicking on each job link pops out of a new page. It’s so much easier than going back each time and finding where I left off in the listings.
There was a job posting from about a month ago posted that I’m pretty sure I found here.
It was for Bette Press and didn’t state any pay scale at that point. I applied and apparently made it through Bette Publishing’s “first stage.” After reading over the terms, they’re misleading. You do not get paid for the review. They’ll send you a PDF attachment of the novel, you read and review it. Then if they like your review, you make it to the next stage.
At that point, you must submit a publicity plan to them stating what you will do to spread the word about this upcoming book, where you will post your review, make posts on discussion boards, etc. IF they like your publicity plan, they will hire you to becoming a publicist for a rate THEY determine based on your review and publicity plan, not a rate you quote and if they decide they dislike your publicity plan or you decide you don’t like the rate they offer, the work you’ve done up to that point goes unpaid.
Re: Patient Talk
An update on this one that was posted last week. Part of the “job requirement” was to sign up for a discussion forum. To date 67 people have joined after being offered the job and since then there has been little activity. We’re all still waiting for further instructions, but some members have been emailing the site owner and getting no response, so it might be all a waste of a time and a way for the person to have boosted traffic to his site. I’ll keep updated as I learn anything more.
