I had a blast yesterday talking about freelance writing as part of the Hot Summer Seminar Series. I want to thank Kelly McCausey, her VA Tishia and all the WAHMs who took time out of their busy schedules to hear what I had to say. It was so much fun and I hope those in attendance enjoyed it too!
Last night’s talk was inspiration for so many blog posts – do keep your eye on the home page for some goodies from me and the rest of the FWJ Network bloggers.
How many of you are working tomorrow? Mr. Ng is home to celebrate the long, holiday weekend. I’ll probably post leads but will most likely take time off to do fun stuff with my family. I hope you do what you enjoy most too.

Super list. Need some insight. I answered a Craigslist ad from Salt Lake City but had Halladay in the title (that’s in TN). It said $300/article (I know-maybe too good to be true). I received this response- ypour thoughts> Happy 4th everyone!

We cover a variety of different topics from entertainment to the ski industry to vacation resorts to fine dining. Each article is unique and set up through a funnel system. (You can imagine how many article writers think they’re the best at a particular niche.) There is a data base to the multiple employers offering the specific articles. You can find the database here: http://bit.ly/W0mNa Once you’ve registered, you’ll be able to pick and choose according to your skill sets and be compensated accordingly.
Oops–make that “your” thoughts. Fat finger syndrome!
Cathy – I got that too and instantly hit delete. I’d steer clear if I were you.
Cathy, I agree with Fiona. Delete is there for a reason.
Nice list Deb. For a holiday coming you did a great job.
Happy Birthday America!!!
Thanks–that was my inclination, too. I especially didn’t want to click on that strange-looking link. Thansk for your insight! As freelancers I know we don’t often have holidays but I hope everyone takes time to enjoy life & the good ol’ USA. Happy 4th!!
Well, that link leads to a 404 error anyhow.
@Deb Thanks for the great information in last night’s HSS session. I so enjoyed your talk. Also, there is no need to apologize for leads not being spectacular or abundant. Neither are your fault and it is not as if we are paying for these leads, so don’t be hard on yourself about it.
@Cathy The “strange-looking” link is just a shortened URL like something you’d use when posting on Twitter. Unfortunately, the link just goes to a 404 Error page at some site called The Snort Report. Looks pretty lame and certainly doesn’t look as though they would be the sort to pay $300 per article.
thanks for this!
I did want to let you know, looked at the “Wanted: Editor” ad and it says “no pay” at the bottom.
@Cathy – Actually Deb wrote about this in yesterday´s blog.

I am sure that you all heard back from someone by the name of Charlie.
Hi Deb,
I’m working tomorrow – largely because I frittered away today! But I plan to celebrate mightily on Saturday.
Thanks for the leads – “see” you next week!
Thanks for the leads & have a great 4th!
Great info, everyone. I love how everyone has each other’s back. Thanks for the education!
Cathy
FYI–this probably doesn’t make a difference in the long run, but Holladay is a suburb of Salt Lake City, so I’d think that was what it was referring to.
