A Japanese to English translation – groovy! Thanks for the leads Jodee. Over the weekend, we sat down to list our goals for next yer and I’ve decided I’m going to try and write a romance novel.

  2. Fiona says:

BY the way, where did the little check box to get all the follow up comments sent to me go?

  3. Jodee says:

@ Fiona: You’re welcome! I want to see if the little box shows up.

Has anyone else emailed the job for “educational writer”? It has been listed a number of places, each subject line a different city. I have responded to it three times and never get an answer or any response at all.

  5. Ann G. says:

On the Paid Marketing Gig – you get a form email telling you to go register. When you do, you go to an online email marketing site Get Response who redirects you to some site that claims to pay you $2 to $5 per survey. There you have to sign up and give them permission to share your email with their marketing partners.

    I meant “Paid Research.”

OK, here’s my favorite post of all time — the Oregon guy who believes a writer should be able to crank out 10 short articles PER HOUR for him…and no doubt also wants to pay in gum wrappers.

Oh, how I’ve missed this place. I applied for ‘Special Interest Bloggers ‘ under the Bloggin Jobs. Pretty simple, read information and what they were looking for at site provided on the craiglist listing. Didn’t have to give anything personal out except name, number and url. After submitting it mention they will contact me. :-)

  9. Nicole says:

@Carol: Too funny, each to their own I guess.

  10. Kenna says:

Sorry, I got here late today. I’ve been writing constantly, never a dull moment. Thanks for the listing.

    RE: The Oregon Guy

I don’t know. It all depends on the article length. I once had a gig writing local restaurant reviews that paid $3 a pop for 75 to 100 words, I could get 10 of those done an hour easy.

I understand how many people will take what work they can get just to survive today’s economy. My high school son has been doing articles for Text Broker to earn some money since he’s not old enough to drive yet. They pay a little more than a penny a word, but he’s gaining experience and earning some cash at the same time. He appreciates being given the chance to work from home.

My husband’s employer just laid off workers and dropped everyone else to part-time. Just last week I landed a great part-time writing gig for $40 an hour. That income is going to barely make up for the pay my husband’s going to be losing. Thank God the union arranged it that they won’t lose their medical and dental by being switched to part time.

Now that I’m on the side of the fence that isn’t sure what will happen financially in the near future, I fully understand why some people take whatever they can get for writing work. Not everyone has the $50 to $100 an hour jobs fall into their laps.
