Good morning FWJ Friends on this rainy Monday! No winter wonderland outside today….slush city instead. Anyway, I’ve got leads for writers with a legal background, grant writers, sewing columnists, business writers, and content writers for your consideration today. A number of blogging jobs and internships are included as well. There are site-specific opps for technical writers, video journalists, an editor for a local drinking guide, sports writers, and more.

Hope one of these jobs turns out to be an early Christmas gift for you!

  1. Thanks for the leads once again Jodee.
    Rainy slushy weather, ahhh.
    I’m at -29 with a windchill of -41 unfortunately.
Do got my hot chocolate beside me. Yum!

  2. Skippy says:

62 degrees and sunny in NYC. Go figure.

  3. Had our first snowfall of the season yesterday here in Vancouver. This is my first winter working from home, and I have to say, it has completely changed my feelings toward snow. Bring it on!

  4. Jenn says:

Thanks Jodee for the good leads, though I think the Looking For Writers to Write One Article post is a scam.

  5. Andrea says:

Low 40s heat wave yesterday, 25 with a seriously chilly and gusty wind today. More schizophrenic Michigan weather. Thanks for the leads, Jodee. One of these days I’m actually going to get one of them if I keep applying.

  6. Abby says:

Maybe I’m confused, but the first post (for legal writers) seems to be looking for writers who will accept $3 or $4 per article. For example, if you follow the link from the ad, it says for one listing “Number of articles: 12″ and “Writer Payment: $48.” That would be $4 per article. Just a head’s up to anyone who was interested in that ad.

  7. Rebecca says:

    Thanks for the leads!

    Winter wonderland in Albuquerque, NM!

  8. Therese says:

Just curious how other freelancers are faring in this economy-are you staying busy? are you slowing down? Just curious?

  9. Jodee says:

    @ Therese: I haven’t noticed a difference. I’ve been keeping busy.

  10. Annie says:

@Therese: Just broke $500/in one week for the first time, then had a dry week, now things are looking good again. Can’t say I’ve noticed the economy affecting, just the general persistence needed and the usual up and down of freelance life. I’m still getting regular clients in place so it’s a bit of a roller coaster.

@Jodee: thanks for the great list. This site and all the work done here has helped me immensely!

  11. Anne G. says:

I heard back from a posting that was posted back in early November for Casino Writers. They pay $3 for 500 words, but claim they’ve filled all their slots, so anyone wanting to work for them is welcome to take on their “other great opportunity” that pays a laughable $1 for 600 words. I’ll be scrapping that offer.

  12. hazel says:

@Therese: I think things are beginning to slow down, but that may be because of the holiday season – last year my business fell off drastically in January-February before building up again in March. I’ve had one client cut back on fees (but not assignments) due to the economy and another delay some promised projects until next year.
I’m making use of the spare time to do some business development projects – like redesign my ugly Web site and send some queries. And, I’m planning a trip to Florida – that’s my way to beat the winter blues!
Best to all for the holiday season!
