7 year old with a stomach virus today – sorry so late.
It’s a new day and a new month, a true clean slate Monday. How will you make a positive start?
I’m going to make a positive start by being mindful of the things I say both online and off, and not letting my anger make me say or do things I’ll regret later. I’m going to continue to make what I feel are the best choices for FWJ and this community and stand by those choices, regardless of what others say, even if it means there are only ten of you visiting here each day. I will also not jump to conclusions about any one or anything as I feel there’s already enough of that going around. I’m going to remain positive and upbeat.

#1 under Magazine Jobs for the Hawaii Baby & Toddler is sketchy. I submitted two articles from her which she accepted but then refused to return my calls and/or email me about payment.

Sorry to hear about your son – bugs and flu seem to be rampant.
I work full-time and freelance on the side. I’ve been writing for years and freelancing for one year with AC, Constant Content, DS and Examiner. My problem is I’ve applied to numerous leads from FWG and have never gotten a response. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Any advice would be appreciated. —I take it back, I have had one reply…to send unpublished articles in for consideration, which I didn’t buy in to.

@Trish – I don’t know that you’re doing anything wrong. Of all the cover letters I send out, only about 5 to 10 percent ever respond. Usually two or three turn out to be scams, others will ask for free samples and I tend to be wary of that.
I find most of the responses I get key in to the sites I write for very closely. For example, I just landed a writing position with Plutoz and they came after me because of my writing with InternetBrands. Both are not considered high paying, but the amount of time it takes me to do the articles more than makes up for it.
One of the editors I work for told me they got slammed with hateful emails telling them they were underpaying, how dare they, and such. Because I was friendly and asked more information about the job before deciding if the pay was right, I landed it. Turns out it is very worthwhile. It’s $4 for 90 to 100 words, no research. I finished six in under an hour and had plenty of time left over for my higher paying work.
