7 year old with a stomach virus today – sorry so late.
It’s a new day and a new month, a true clean slate Monday. How will you make a positive start?
I’m going to make a positive start by being mindful of the things I say both online and off, and not letting my anger make me say or do things I’ll regret later. I’m going to continue to make what I feel are the best choices for FWJ and this community and stand by those choices, regardless of what others say, even if it means there are only ten of you visiting here each day. I will also not jump to conclusions about any one or anything as I feel there’s already enough of that going around. I’m going to remain positive and upbeat.

Magazine Jobs, Submissions, Guidelines and Markets

Thanks so much for the post today!
I have to tell you that I have been so busy writing lately for 2 clients–and I found both of them here. Thanks!
Deb, so very much appreciate your commitment to caring, quality communication with FWJ. And thank you for the leads too!
Deb, thank you for the list and hope your son feels better soon. Got to say, have been following the many changes you’ve been making the past few months…and I love the direction FWG is taking. Looking fwd to all the new features.
Best wishes!
Thanks for the list. Sorry about your son, hang in there. Wash your hands and change towels regularly — you don’t want to get it.
Work is very steady for me and I do have to thank this site. Thank you!
My focus this month is to produce like mad for the first three weeks because the holidays are coming.
I am a faithful reader every day — and I’ve sent the link on to many other freelancers. Thanks for all you do! Stay well!
Just discovered your site, and I am excited about pursuing some freelance work. Thanks for the great leads!
It’s so sad when kids get sick.
Poor guy. Hope he feels better soon.
I think you do an amazing job with this site. I can’t think of any bad decisions you’ve made but I’m sure you notice your mistakes more than others do. I, for one, think you do an awesome job and I appreciate everything you do.
Thanks Deb for continued sacrifices of preparing job leads, posts and keeping newcomers up with the “freelance news”. You are very much appreciated and I hope your 7 year old gets well soon.
#1 under Magazine Jobs for the Hawaii Baby & Toddler is sketchy. I submitted two articles from her which she accepted but then refused to return my calls and/or email me about payment.
Thanks all, for the good wishes. You rock!
I’m glad you are remaining upbeat Deb. You have taken such a beating around “town”,and it just got way out of control!! Ugh.
I thank you for all of the information you provide on this network. It has been so valuable to me in the short time I’ve been here.

Sorry to hear about your son – bugs and flu seem to be rampant.
I work full-time and freelance on the side. I’ve been writing for years and freelancing for one year with AC, Constant Content, DS and Examiner. My problem is I’ve applied to numerous leads from FWG and have never gotten a response. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Any advice would be appreciated. —I take it back, I have had one reply…to send unpublished articles in for consideration, which I didn’t buy in to.
Thanks all in advance and Happy November!!!
@Trish – I don’t know that you’re doing anything wrong. Of all the cover letters I send out, only about 5 to 10 percent ever respond. Usually two or three turn out to be scams, others will ask for free samples and I tend to be wary of that.
I find most of the responses I get key in to the sites I write for very closely. For example, I just landed a writing position with Plutoz and they came after me because of my writing with InternetBrands. Both are not considered high paying, but the amount of time it takes me to do the articles more than makes up for it.
One of the editors I work for told me they got slammed with hateful emails telling them they were underpaying, how dare they, and such. Because I was friendly and asked more information about the job before deciding if the pay was right, I landed it. Turns out it is very worthwhile. It’s $4 for 90 to 100 words, no research. I finished six in under an hour and had plenty of time left over for my higher paying work.
