@PJ – Other sites have done that. They simply boost content and I’ve never heard of anyone getting a “job” after posting.

@Emmbee – I’ve actually spoken to administrators for many of the dating sites and sent them links to ads. Every time, I’ve been told that they do not hire freelancers for their sites. With that, any dating site writing job I figure is a scam that people are using to bring in referral fees.

I’ve had a string of people demanding samples from recent Craigslist posts. One guy was looking for people with a background in mortgage banking and the other wanted legal articles. In both cases, they wanted “samples” that were 700 to 1,000 words and said there would be no pay if accepted and that they get the copyright to the sample. So that’s something to watch for.

pj – The Journalists/Columnists ad leads toward something that smacks of American Idol. I applied and received the instructions. Basically you write something, post it on their website, and get people to vote for your article. I passed on the “opportunity.”

It seem like the craigslist ads are getting trickier, in the way posted ads provide links to poorly rendered sites.

Not that it happens here. However, one I found here, Ray Recruiting I think it was, was very iffy. They sent me an email in which they said all positions had been filled, and then in the next paragraph offered a job, which required reviewing a dating site and a debt management site. Has anyone here gotten this? Is this a scam? It looks like they’re getting free work in an application process.

Am I the only one who finds this odd? This is in reference top the job post “Copy Editor for Social Media Startup”.

They expect you to be available to them for 40 hours a week, yet the job specifies it is only for 20 hours a week (and may not be a steady flow).

This really isn’t really a usual/normal expectation, right? To me that is saying 20 hours of freelancer’s *time* is worth… nothing.
