Thanks Deb.
Thanks for the leads on a Sunday, Deb! I just applied to the celebrity blogger job
I’ve already gotten one writing job from your site that I’m really happy with, thank you for that. You’re awesome in everything that you guys do here.
Fyi, on that celebrity blogging site, they’re thieving content via RSS from some major news sources. They also don’t pay.
Here’s the response that I got from the guy in charge:
The position does not pay at this time however the person I select will have a ground floor position on this fast growing site.
Thanks but no thanks…lol
What a pleasant surprise.
Thanks,
Veronica
Just so you know, for some reason, this post didn’t show up for me until Monday (not on RSS feed either).
The knowcancer.com ad takes you to a place you have to register in order to apply…..but you have to pay a subscription fee to register. Does that bother anyone besides me? It sounds right up my alley, but I’m not about to pay to be part of a community just so I can apply for a job. Am I wrong? Does anyone else pay the subscription fee for Virtual Vocations? If so, is it even worth it?
@Erica
I feel the same way that you do. Right now at least. I suppose if I was making more money freelancing ( or had less kids to feed!) I could “justify” or write it off as a business expense–and it wouldn’t hurt my bottom line too much.
However, to pay for a subscription in the hopes of getting a job…for now I’ll pass.
Hi Erica & Michelle – That’s my fault. I didn’t realize Virtual Vocations required a payment. I’ll avoid using them in the future.
When I tried to access the site that is looking for Christian bloggers (from the message board this site links to) my security software went all sorts of nuts and refused to open the page. It said the site could infect and damage my browser.
Avoid the writer job for “AVN Bloggers (Might be for Adult Video News)” unless you would like to write for a porn site (and what serious writer would want that on their resume? Ew.)
Re: KnowCancer
I was able to apply without paying. Not sure why it let me, but on the ad, where there is the button that says Apply Now – I clicked that and then had to back out and create an account. I did and it never asked for any payment. Once I did that, it asked me to create a resume. I did that then went back to the job posting. This time it asked me to log in, so I did and it asked if I wanted to send my resume now.
@Ann G,
You are correct – if you scroll down to the very bottom, there is some tiny print that says “no thanks” which I missed the first time. Thanks for the heads-up, now I can apply!
Well, so much for that. I tried to bypass it three times and it bumps me back to the “this is only available to subscribers” page each time. I guess I don’t have the magic fingers that Ann does!
