Has anybody ever actually found a paid writing job through this site?
Yes, I have…quite a few. I write constantly for a living. I like coming to this site to keep the work coming in with short-term or steady work.
I love this site and have been checking the job listings
on a daily basis for a few years. I’ve applied to several
but as of today, I have not been given the opportunity to
write for someone else. I’m sure many people do get hired
as writers from the job listings on this site but it really
seems like a difficult process, at least for me.
I spent eleven years trading stocks for a living and also wrote
a daily market commentary type article for a blog I had through
Google. Made some decent money through the Google ads I had posted
on my blog. Then one morning I received an email from Google informing
me that my ad account was being terminated due to failure to follow
the “terms of agreement” rules. Funny, that happened just as I was suppose
to receive a $400 ad revenue check from Google.
So, I canceled my blog account and deleted it totally. Looking back, it
was a dumb move on my part since I now don’t have any previous articles
I had posted that show my writing style or ability. Guess I’ll get a large
piece of cardboard and make a sign that reads, “Will Write For Food”.
Guess I can always stand at the highway intersection with that sign hanging
from my neck in hopes that someone will feel sorry for me and toss me a $1.
haha
I re-launched my freelance writing career through this and another site. It’s been awesome for me. And, I still write for several clients that I found here.
I’ve found clients too. This site is easily one of the best of its kind.
Glad to be of help, guys. If there is something that you would like to see in the job leads section, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.
I’ve landed several nice gigs thanks to this site. Keep up the good work Freelance Writing Gigs!
Thanks, Sandra; hope we can help you all to find more gigs in the future.
Noemi, thanks for the list! Your reminder that this is the last full week of August made me have a slight panic attack. How did that happen?
Richard, I’ve found several nice, paying gigs through this site.
MikeM, it can be slow getting started. Hang in there, keep trying, and you’ll hit it. I’ve applied for LOTS and LOTS of gigs and jobs and gotten far more rejections or non-responses than affirmative. But the balance slowly shifts. I have a blog on my writing/portfolio site (www.AnnieMueller.com) that covers online marketing, freelancing, writing & blogging for small biz, etc; if you’d be interested in putting together a guest post on some financial aspect of those topics, perhaps it could be something you could reference in your job search. No pay… 🙂 but a clip is always good.
Annie – I kinda panicked when I realized that the month’s almost over as well. Home stretch…we can do this!
