Today is the day I’m handing over the keys to the kingdom to Splashpress Media. In case you weren’t aware of this, I sold Freelance Writing Jobs and today is the last day under my ownership. I’ve had 30 days to think about this transaction and while I still believe it’s for the best, it’s also strange and sad knowing that FWJ will no longer be mine.
I wrote this post in my head about twelve times in the past few days but it’s not coming out like I intended.
- I thought about writing about the lessons I learned as a freelance writer, but I already did that.
- I thought about writing about the lessons I learned as a blogger, but I already did that.
- I thought about writing a long list of thank you’s but I already did that.
I don’t want to get all melancholy, but I do want to tell you that this blog and community was my life for five years and it means so much to me. You all do. I met so many wonderful people and learned more than I can tell you here. I’m grateful for the support of the freelance writing community.
I don’t want to turn this into some sad, prolonged Oprah moment, so I’ll leave you with one last thought:
You are responsible for you. Only you know the choices that work best for you and your situation. Don’t be the person a blogger wants you to be. Be the person you want to be. Be happy.
With gratitude,
Deborah Ng
