The Role

We are looking for an Editor to refine and elevate cybersecurity guidebooks for technical and executive audiences—guidebooks like this: https://a.co/d/gOKwcBs.

In this role, you will take structured drafts produced by writers and transform them into polished, publication-ready manuscripts. You will be responsible for applying and maintaining a consistent DestCert tone and voice across all materials, ensuring clarity, cohesion, and a high standard of editorial quality.

You will work closely with writers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and other stakeholders to refine content, improve flow, and ensure that each book meets our standards for both technical accuracy and readability.

Responsibilities

• Edit and refine long-form content, including full-length books and supporting materials, to ensure clarity, consistency, and readability.
• Apply and maintain a consistent DestCert tone and voice across all written materials.
• Collaborate with writers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to clarify meaning, resolve ambiguities, and strengthen overall content quality.
• Improve structure, flow, and transitions within and across chapters to create a cohesive reading experience.
• Review content for technical clarity and work with SMEs to validate accuracy where needed.
• Ensure consistency in terminology, formatting, and style across all deliverables.
• Manage revisions and provide clear, actionable feedback to writers to improve draft quality over time.

• Editing & Voice: Strong editorial skills with the ability to transform drafts into polished, engaging content while applying a consistent tone and voice.

• Attention to Detail: High standards for clarity, consistency, grammar, and formatting across complex documents.
• Collaboration: Comfortable working closely with writers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to refine and improve content.
• Editorial Judgment: Strong sense of quality and readability, with the ability to make informed decisions about tone, clarity, and structure.
