SEO Writer

Job Summary:
Blavity Inc. is looking for an SEO Writer for the 21Ninety brand. This position is a (W2) contractor who will be responsible for expanding our library of evergreen content in the Women’s lifestyle and wellness niche by writing articles based on the SEO keywords provided. This position partners closely with the Associate SEO Editor.

The ideal candidate has digital publishing experience and is able to balance quantity and quality. Writers on our team spend 1.5 to 2.5 hours per article, and should be comfortable writing multiple articles within a single theme or content cluster. Open communication and reliability are key to being successful in this role.

This role will report directly to the Associate Director of SEO

Contractors will be responsible for providing their own equipment, including but not limited to laptop computers, cell phones, or any other electronic equipment required to perform their role.

Responsibilities:

• Pitch compelling SEO stories aligned with 21Ninety’s brand voice and tone
• Execute any assigned SEO stories in a timely manner
• Check articles for grammatical and factual accuracy and readability
• Upload articles to our content management system, following best practices for online content formatting
• Ensure that content follows basic SEO best practices, is well optimized, and demonstrates expertise, authority, and trust (EAT)
• Establish and maintain relationships with industry experts by finding sources and conducting interviews as needed
• Research trending and high-performing topics as needed

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree
• Required Experience:
  • 1-2+ years experience writing for a digital publisher
  • 1+ years experience using WordPress (or other content management systems)
  • Knowledge of the latest AP Style guidelines, best practices for writing online, and basic understanding of core SEO concepts
  • An online writing portfolio demonstrating exemplary writing and content creation skills
• Preferred Experience: Proficient with keyword research, on-page SEO, and content marketing best practices
• Technologies: Fluent in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Asana, and WordPress CMS
• Additional Qualifications:

  • A healthy appreciation of GIFs and Black culture

Details:

• This is a fully remote, U.S.- based role. Occasional travel may be required.
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Candidates must be available to work in alignment with the Eastern Time Zone.
• The hourly rate for this role is $20/hr (12-18 hours a week).
