Content Syndication Writer

Job Summary:

Blavity Inc. seeks a Content Syndication Writer to create impactful, original content for our Owned & Operated Brands as it relates to syndicating content to third-party partners. This role requires an experienced writer who can convey complex ideas concisely to engage our target audience.

This position is a (1099) contractor.
This role will report directly to the Head of Audience Operations and Growth.

Contractors will be responsible for providing their own equipment, including but not limited to laptop computers, cell phones, or any other electronic equipment required to perform their role.

Responsibilities:

  • Research topics and keywords to create on-brand and compelling content
  • Write content to attract and educate website visitors
  • Ideate new content ideas in conjunction with the Audience Development and Editorial teams
  • Meet writing quotas and deadlines consistently
  • Employ AI assistants for rapid information discovery and context-building on assigned topics
  • Ensure that content follows basic SEO best practices, is structured, and is well optimized for performance

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Required Experience:
    • 1+ years experience using WordPress (or comparable Content Management System) to author, publish, and edit content
    • Knowledge of the latest AP Style guidelines, best practices for writing online, and a basic understanding of core SEO concepts
    • An online writing portfolio demonstrating exemplary writing and content creation skills
  • Preferred Experience:
    • 2+ years of writing experience
    • Prior experience updating content or working with a digital publisher
  • Technologies: Fluent in Google Suite, Asana (or comparable project management suite), and WordPress CMS (or comparable Content Management System)
  • Additional Qualifications:
    • Command balancing automation efficiencies with human creativity and oversight
    • Diligence vetting AI usage against misinformation and plagiarism risks
    • Excellent writing, editing, and research skills
    • Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Ability to work collaboratively with a positive and can-do approach
    • Comfort performing research to ensure our information is accurate and as useful to readers as possible
    • Independent, entrepreneurial mindset and comfort taking on a high level of responsibility
    • Motivation to work hard in a fast-paced environment
    • A healthy appreciation of GIFs and Black culture

Details:

  • This is a fully remote role.
  • Candidates must be available to work at least 80% in alignment with the Eastern Time Zone.
  • The hourly rate for this role is $18-20.
