Nearpod, a division of Renaissance, is looking for a specialized content writer to develop short Math lessons aimed specifically at English Learners (a.k.a. Multilingual Learners / Emergent Bilinguals) in grades 9–12. As a part of this project, you will build short lessons around provided Math videos for students in grades 9–12. In each lesson, your goal will be to make the video more accessible to English Learners by adding research-based scaffolds before, during, and after the video. The scope of work will vary based on our need and capacity, your area(s) of expertise, and your availability.

Add any slides, questions, or activities that you think would benefit English Learners. The lesson should demonstrate your understanding of the needs of English Learners. Nearpod, Google Slides, or PowerPoint are all acceptable formats. The lesson should be ready-to-launch (i.e., not a lesson plan but a presentation ready for the teacher to use in their classroom).
This might be a perfect fit for you if:
- You have experience as an EL teacher working within this grade range and content area in a pull-out or sheltered model or as a content-area teacher working with a high percentage of English Learners in your classroom. Candidates currently completing teaching certification and/or currently acquiring an EL endorsement will also be considered.
- You have a passion for making grade-level content accessible to all students, especially English Learners and stay in the know about research regarding English Learners.
- You care about improving students’ learning experiences through technology and thoughtful instructional design.
- You seek out constructive feedback and apply it to improve your work.
- You are precise, detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines.
