Now Frolic (nowfrolic.com) launched in 2025 as a lifestyle newsletter covering themes related to including nightlife, outdoor sports, travel, and civic life. As a young publication we reach 1100+ highly-engaged readers across web, email, and social media for each article — and we’re growing fast. Our audience is expanding organically at +13% each month through referrals, social media traffic, and search. Research shows that email audiences are more likely to stick around over time than viewers on web or social media platforms, giving our advertisers exceptional long-term value.

About the Role

Now Frolic is launching a NEW weekly Tuesday newsletter featuring recommendations for the upcoming weekend in NYC and LA. We are seeking multiple writers to contribute short, bite-sized recommendations content to be included in the weekly send.

Recommendations should be brief — only 50-200 words in length — and fit into one of the following broad categories:

• Nightlife: great date night spots, new restaurant openings, music or theater performances, comedy, cocktail bars, secret parties, speaking events, etc.
• Civic Life: family-friendly festivals, protests, civic events, community events hosted by a library, etc.
• Outdoor Sports: free pickleball lessons, hikes within easy train (NYC) or driving (LA) distance, run clubs, marathon watch parties / groups, mountain biking, anything outdoorsy at all whether in the city or metro area, etc.
• Travel: finds and discounts for travel, easy weekend getaways, cute little AirBnBs, hidden gems

Writers should write from experience (e.g., you’ve seen the movie you’re recommending to others, have eaten at the restaurant, or been to the place, etc.).

How it Works

We will email the freelancer pool twice each month with a call for submissions and any notes on focus (e.g., seasonality or themes).

• Pay per contribution: $10 + $0.10/word
• Word count per contribution: 50 to 200
