Dotdash Meredith is seeking a contract content update editor for Byrdie. Candidates should have experience writing or editing beauty, lifestyle, and fashion articles. Update editors may revise outdated information, polish dull or error-ridden copy, and expand text to ensure articles are detailed and comprehensive.
As a content update editor for Byrdie, you will review and revise existing articles in order to elevate user experience, according to specific project instructions and brand guidelines. The rate for this role ranges from $25-$27/hour, and we are looking for a candidate who can commit to 15-20 hours per week.

 About Your Contributions:

  • You will perform updates to existing beauty and style content as needed, according to specific project instructions and brand guidelines. Updates include any combination of writing new sections for articles, adding new imagery, or sourcing new quotes from experts such as dermatologists.
  • In some cases you will use your editorial instinct to independently assess what work is necessary on a piece of beauty or style content before performing an update.
  • You will fact check and copy edit on top of any larger revisions and updates.

 About You:

  • You have a strong background in beauty, wellness and style editorial, with current industry knowledge and relationships. You’re always on top of new trends, treatments and products.
  • You’re able to easily adopt an established brand voice, and you adhere to strict brand and style guidelines like a pro.
  • You consider yourself a visual person. You can look at the Byrdie homepage and understand how our unique visual style differs from competitors.
  • You’re comfortable working in a content management system and can work quickly, independently and accurately.
  • You are comfortable working remotely and can consistently work a set amount of hours each week.
