At first glance, the reading habits of the 5 generations seem pretty similar. But when you get to the nitty-gritty, you can see some interesting differences.

  • Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, Gen Z has increased their reading more than any other generation.

  • Millennials read more books than any other generation.

  • Physical books are still the No.1 choice over digital versions, for all generations.

  • Baby Boomers and the Silent Generation locate books from bestseller lists, but Gen Z prefers to use social media.

  • Millennials are the generation that uses public libraries the most.

  • Gen X are proper “news junkies,” reading more online news on a daily basis.

  • And something fun? The older the French get, the more likely they are to read erotic books.

Younger people aren’t necessarily choosing Facebook or TikTok over reading. They still love a good book.
